Job Description

Le Chêne is seeking a skilled and driven Pastry Prep Cook to join the kitchen team for the end of October. The food at Le Chêne is focused on French sauces, impeccable sourcing, a less is more approach. This position is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious pastry cook to be part of an exciting restaurant that opened a year ago. The goal is to build a team that strives to learn together, push each other to be better and have fun while doing it.

As a Pastry Prep Cook, you will run the pastry section on your own, taking full ownership of daily production from mise en place through finished product. You will work with ingredients carefully sourced and be responsible for ensuring operational efficiency and excellence on your station, including support on our pithiviers production.

This is a full time position, four to five days a week. Hours can be flexible but morning is usually the preferred schedule. 

Experience in professional pastry or bakery production is required. This role is built around independence — you should be very comfortable running your section alone with minimal supervision.

• Extensive experience in professional pastry or bakery production
• Strong organizational skills and time management under real production pressure
• Ability to work independently and manage a full section with minimal supervision
• Passion for French pastry and technique
• Food safety knowledge
• Good communication skills, you'll often be the only person on pastry during your shift, so keeping the rest of the kitchen informed matters
• Ability to be part of daily stock inventory and ordering precisely for the next day
• Follow company policies and guidelines
• Replicate recipes precisely with written guidelines
• Commitment to quality and attention to detail
• Being a team player

Physical requirement:

• Standing for long periods of time
• Lifting and carrying occasionally up to 50 lb
